Q&A

An Entry Level carbon frame

Dear Editor,

I am writing to have your kind advice on the purchase of my first racing bike. I state that until now have gone on MTB and would like to take the plunge. Taking information is available on the web I would be geared towards entry-level carbon model on 1500-1700 Euro. I'd like to find a bike that would give preference above all comfort. Among the discovered patterns thought to Scott CR1 or Wilier Izoard XP.

According to you is a good choice or should I consider other models?

Signed letter

The first step is to clarify that the entry-level bike in carbon fiber does not offer the ultimate in performance, in comparison to many aluminium models (see Cannondale CAAD 10), and only the carbon is not enough to make a comfortable bike. The Scott CR1 is comfortable than Izoard XP, good model, but that certainly does not make the ride comfort her strong point. Frames to be considered are the Cannondale Synapse, Specialized Roubaix, Bianchi Infinito, Wilier Granturismo, Scott CR1. Within the limits of its budget should make the choice between these models. Given the budget, I suggest you take a look also produced Canyon (Ultimate CF), Cube (Agree) and FRW (Diamond Heights), where you can find products with improved price/performance, albeit at the expense of comfort, slightly lower than the models presented above.
