Q&ATrek Madone VS Specialized Tarmac
Dear Editor, I read with interest the test of Specialized Tarmac SL4 Pro, and being undecided, I ask for your opinion on the Trek Madone 5.2 H2 2012, which I understand does not have (besides the Leopard color) big changes compared to the 2011 model. Signed letter
Dear Reader, bikes, though they have similar behaviour on the road, are very different, reflecting the different formulation of the project. Overall performance is very similar but are obtained differently. The Tarmac is lighter, stiffer and better handling. On the other hand it is more uncomfortable and less stability at high speeds. The Trek Madone has a structure in the saddle more comfortable, less tired on long distances and has a much greater overall comfort. It weighs slightly more and this leads to slightly lower performance, but not so obvious. It has a more intuitive and easier, safer on the fast is also easier to control on uneven. The slightly greater weight penalizes the most difficult climbs, but again the differences are minimal. So the choice is made according to the use to which it is intended and preferences. The Specialized Tarmac is a great racing bike. The Trek Madone, although equally good performance, is best suited for those who prefers the safety, comfort and ease of driving to the absolute performance, a bike that is best expressed in non-competitive long runs where it is much more fun and enjoyable to drive. The overall quality of the two models is excellent, especially in proportion to their price list.
