Q&A

Specialized Tarmac vs Specialized Roubaix

Dear Editor,

I would like to have a council for the purchase of new road bike. I was directed towards the Specialized brand. As

for frames I are proposed two types:
1) the pro Tarmac SL cost of 1790.00 euros list that it says it is hard
2) the Roubaix comp list price of 1090.00. I is said to be softer
I practical level amateur cycling routes for the 50% climb in releases of 50/70 km and do not watch the time that we use. Mine is a purely amateur. Based on your experience which of the frames I recommend?

Dear reader, thanks for the confidence. The two bikes on which you are both very focused, they differ, however, for its intended use which results in having two different frameworks for building materials, geometries and road behaviour. The frame Tarmac is made of a different carbon and foremost a design of the frame designed for greater stiffness and responsiveness. This leads to more performance, but also to feel more disconnections of the asphalt. Roubaix chassis, however, has been developed to achieve greater comfort over long distances (see fork and rear) the differences in rigidity, however, though it is true that these are only felt by athletes very powerful. Given the use to which it wants to do, I will certainly guide and decided to Roubaix version, which certainly gives you more comfort and pleasure to ride over long distances. Investing, however, the money they save from the difference in cost between the two frames, a blend of higher quality, with special reference to the wheels, first and foremost, and then to the group. This can only get a bike more comfortable the Tarmac, but also with the same performance (and perhaps more) as the lesser rigidity of the chassis Roubaix, will be largely offset by the wheels sliding more and the lighter group. Finally, one last piece of advice, being a woman is given the economic costs involved, I focus on the model Ruby Expert Compact (the female version of the Roubaix chassis), which is part of the collection Bici Donna and models than you've indicated that you have shares the chassis with geometric specifications for women. The latter model will provide an even better in the saddle, which will increase comfort and improve its performance with an optimization of pedalling.
