Meanwhile additions to the site. It 'always nice when you find that the work exudes a passion! I am writing because this year I want to approach to bike racing, I come from mtb, but I have some doubts. First of all groups: Campagnolo or Shimano? They say that the Veloce is good as a change entry level, but many friends I have not recommended to take it because they think it more delicate and less reliable. They say, and use the conditional, that the 105 is better though on the same range of Veloce. And here lies the second question: if it is true that the 105 costs more in most cases, how can a bike mounted in Veloce have a higher price rather than the 105? I do not understand what is discriminated against.
Dear reader, thanks for the compliments and confidence. On the difference between Campagnolo and Shimano we have repeatedly mentioned, unfortunately between the lovers is a division and typhoid stadium, which prevents it from seeing things objectively. The two groups are very good products and I can assure you that none of the two had problems of any kind. The group Veloce is a great group and I feel out of place to call "entry level", both for price, and for construction quality, weight and performance. The reliability of the group Veloce is equal to that of other products Campagnolo, that is good and similar to Shimano (the speech can also be inverted, Shimano has a reliability equal to Campagnolo). As regards the "sensitivity" if it relates to development, this is another "urban legends": the error it committed many mechanics who used to Campagnolo the same parameters of development of Shimano, but the parameters are different! (although the differences are minimal). A mechanical serious and capable, will develop the group Campagnolo so perfect and settings will remain stable over time. The differences of the two groups ore on ergonomics and controls, see you one wish, Campagnolo fits better hands small, Shimano hands large, the aesthetics of the same commands and the passage of wires, matters entirely subjective and irrelevant in practice, the silence, just more about Shimano and the fluidity of action, just better on Shimano. Specifically means that Shimano offers manufacturers a discount higher than the retail price of what it offers Campagnolo. The final cost of a bike assembled, in addition, is also determined by other components, that are crucial to the final cost. This should not reflect on the fact that you can not say that a product is better than another because in the store costs more, we must analyze the cost industry, which in the case of the two groups covered in the study is virtually identical, as are the two groups, bell separately.
