The group Sram XX can be considered a cornerstone of Mtb, having opened the way for the 10-speed mountain bike and have introduced a concept of creation of a group of mountain bike, not only functional and reliable, but also light. By XX, Sram Mtb carried in all the concepts that made her famous top group range from the road, the Red, lightness, speed and top performance. This is achieved through a widespread use of carbon fiber and a lot of magnesium parts, then a double crank sprocket and a 10 speed, thus reducing the weight while having a good range of reports. This solution, introduced by Sram, was then taken by competitors, so far still the classic 3x9 solution. The rear derailleur has a cage in carbon fiber and weighs 181 grams, while the front derailleur has a weight of 118 grams. The crank is in carbon fiber and with BB30 or standard bottom bracket. In the first case was declared a weight of 694 grams, the second of 754 grams (without bracket). It is available in combinations 26/39, 28/42, 30/45. The chain has lightened links and a weight of 255 with 114 links. The controls are levers and parts made of carbon fiber and weighs 183 grams. The brake levers are carbon fiber and the caliper body and magnesium alloy, the perforated discs are widely available in sizes of 160/185 and 140 mm in diameter. They have a weight of 188 grams, while a version called dosponibile World Cup which has a weight of 179 grams, thanks to increased use of magnesium parts.


The road test


The test that we submitted to the group Sram XX was complete and showed all the characteristics of this product. Rather than the realization of the good parts, but without presenting special finishes. If attention is excellent for weight reduction, with many components made of carbon fiber and magnesium. The crank is light and very rigid, allowing for superior smoothness, good combination of reports that you can choose. Good ergonomics of the console with a very limited range of levers. The pressure required on the levers of the derailleurs is slightly above average, rougher and mechanics, but the differences are minimal. Good accuracy in steps of relationship, only slightly above the average noise. The precision gear changes never fails, even with the mud. Excellent speed in steps of relationship, whether the change rear derailleur. Braking is strong and resistant to powerful fadding only improve scalability on surfaces slippery, however, quite good. In conclusion a very good team, lightweight and excellent performance. Fast steps in the report, with a good crank and powerful braking, noise has only a slightly above average and less fluidity in the drive command. A group just for the agonist.
