TechniqueNew range of 3T wheels 2012: Mercurio and Accelero
3T enters the world of wheels with two new products: MERCURIO (tubular) and ACCELERO (clincher).
The first set of wheels that will be put into production is the Mercurio version LTD 60 with 60 mm profile rims for tubular tires. MERCURIO LTD will then be available with wheels from 80 mm to 40 mm. It will be followed to ACCELERO (clincher) available from 60 to 40 mm. ACCELERO will be produced in LTD version, PRO and TEAM. The new wheels are characterized by a careful study of aerodynamics, which led to a new rim profile, which provide greater aerodynamic performance. The pair of wheels Mercurio LTD 60 has a weight of just under 1400 grams, with a careful reduction of weight on the edges of the rim, in order to ensure a low inertia and hence higher acceleration. The spokes are reversed, the nipple, relatively heavy, are at the end of the spokes near the hub, not on the rim, so as to reduce the weight of the rim and the moment of inertia. The spokes are straight and their head is part of the circle through the chambers, or 'pockets', placed on its side, thus avoiding the need to drill holes. It improves the reliability. The hubs have a high flange for improved rigidity. The braking surface is covered with circles of a special "veil" which allows a constant friction with the brake pads on both wet and dry conditions. Another peculiarity that the freewheel is compatible with the groups Shimano/Sram and Campagnolo, thanks to a "spline" patent that does not require adjustments.
